The Proactive Patient Experience is based on Paul’s personal story about a relatively healthy, successful, middle aged man who became progressively ill, lost his ability to work (and walk) and almost died; until he managed to fight back with a plant-based diet, moderate exercise, the support of his family, and compassionate, empathetic and caring doctors and nurses who saved his life.
Told with both humor and pathos, Paul’s story is entertaining and informative for healthcare providers and the patients they serve.
Paul’s speeches focus on the importance of treating patients like VIP customers, and the need for patients to be more proactive about their personal care and service.
“Your doctor does not go home with your disease, you do; so don’t be afraid to have an opinion and insist on the best experience,” says Paul.
Based on his personal struggle with two life threatening illnesses over the better part of a decade– and informed by more than 20 years of experience in service marketing–Paul’s presentations recount the highs and lows of the patient experience as viewed by the patient himself. In addition, he adds practical and tactical advice on how providers can deliver more “customer-centric” care, while urging patients to take responsibility for their own health through research, proper diet and fitness, and an unrelenting insistence on a VIP experience.
